This is the blog of Reverend Kerry J Birch, minister of Carters Lane Baptist Church, Halesowen. Here you will find occasional thoughts and reflections on Christian life and discipleship, and information about other interesting subjects and events. As well as being minister of a local West Midlands Baptist church, Kerry also fulfils a number of other roles within the wider church. He is currently chairman of Natural Church Development – UK Ltd, a Christian charitable company that promotes church health, development and growth with a focus on increasing the quality of church life by applying universal Natural Church Development principles. One of Kerry’s long-standing interests is the history of Baptist churches in England, and from time to time he teaches Baptist History and Baptist Principles for Bristol Baptist College and the Heart of England Baptist Association. Kerry was brought up in Baptist churches in Swindon and Bath, worked in administration with British Gas for several years, achieved a BA degree from the Open University, trained for ministry at Bristol Baptist College, and was awarded BA(Hons) and MLitt degrees from the University of Bristol. Kerry has held pastorates in Cheltenham (Gas Green) and Worcester (Rainbow Hill) before to moving to Halesowen in 2012.
